Nas - I Can - "Read more, learn more, change the globe". Piano song: Für Elise by Beethoven. Beat from 0:01-0:10 - is from "Get Down" by Nas himself. With Subs. Thanks for all the comments. Background piano in the beginning: Für Elise by Beethoven, played by Nas' own daughter (or so I've been told). Don't make Nas your teacher in history - still; the song has a strong purpose and message and is a great song; enjoy! Lyrics: [Kids] I know I can (I know I can) Be what I wanna be (be what I wanna be) If I work hard at it (If I work hard at it) I'll be where I wanna be (I'll be where I wanna be) [Nas] Be, B-Boys and girls, listen up You can be anything in the world, in God we trust An architect, doctor, maybe an actress But nothing comes easy it takes much practice Like, I met a woman who's becoming a star She was very beautiful, leaving people in awe Singing songs, Lina Horn, but the younger version Hung with the wrong person Got her strung on that Heroin, cocaine, sniffin up drugs all in her nose... Coulda died, so young, now looks ugly and old No fun cause now when she reaches for hugs people hold they breath Cause she smells of corrosion and death Watch the company you keep and the crowd you bring Cause they came to do drugs and you came to sing So if you gonna be the best, I'ma tell you how, Put your hands in the air, and take a vow [Chorus - 2x (Nas and Kids)] I know I can (I know I can) Be what I wanna be (be what I wanna be) If I work hard at it (If I work hard at it ...

The son of jazz musician Olu Dara, he was born and raised in the Queensbridge housing projects in New York City. Although he dropped out of middle school, he managed to attain a high degree of literacy which is prominent in his lyrics. His debut album Illmatic, was released in 1994 on Columbia Records. Illmatic was critically acclaimed and would go on to be widely hailed a classic. Nas was part of hip-hop supergroup The Firm, which released one album. From 2001 to 2005, Nas was involved in a widely publicized feud with rapper Jay-Z; both rappers verbally attacked each other in their songs. The two formally ended their rivalry through duet performances at concerts sponsored by New York City-area hip-hop radio stations. In 2006, he was listed number five on MTV's 10 Greatest Emcees of All Time. Also in 2006, he signed to Def Jam, releasing his albums Hip Hop is Dead in 2006 and an untitled album in 2008. Nas was born Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones in Long Island City, Queens, New York. His father, Olu Dara, is a African American jazz trumpeter and his mother, Fannie Ann Jones, was a Postal Service worker. www.hardknock.tv Exclusive in-depth interview with J Cole! Part 1 starts off with Cole talking about picking a song for Jay-Z to jump on but not wanting to be out shined on his own track. Nick Huff Barili asked Cole if he has ever given an artist a song with verses already on it and then had to go back and re-write his verse, which Cole responded ONCE! ...for Kendrick Lamar. Jermaine tells the story of how he gave Kendrick the song Temptations, which Kendrick murdered so bad that it made Cole want to change his verse. He also states that he is not gonna settle for a mixtape for tracks with Kendrick and that even if they have to wait a year he wants it to be for a joint album. As the conversation continues J Cole talks about the new single Work Out and wanting to have something for label to push to radio. He reminds fans that he is dealing with two labels Roc Nation and Columbia, which takes a while to get everyone on same page. Feeling of pressure is something that never goes away from before when he wasn't signed to now. Cole elaborates on his twitter headline My Story aint the only one I'm trying to tell. Cole says what he brings to Hip Hop is the story element like Tupac and Nas, that he feels is not prevalent in Hip Hop right now. Part one of this interview ends with Nick asking Cole about a post he made on his blog about Ted Talks and reforming education. The talk is by Salman Khan and the link is www.dreamvillain.net We are just getting started, our conversation ...

"If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)" is a 1996 hit hip hop single by Nas featuring Lauryn Hill of The Fugees. The single was Nas's first Top 20 R&B hit, and was also nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. The song samples the 1983 Whodini single "Friends", and interpolates the song "If I Ruled The World" by Kurtis Blow into its chorus. Lauryn Hill's verse interpolates the song "Walk Right Up To The Sun" by The Delfonics. The song's lyrics feature Nas discussing the various things he would do if he "ruled the world and everything in it". "If I Ruled the World", bolstered by a high-budget music video directed by Hype Williams, became Nas's first single to gain mainstream notice. The single became a Top 20 hit on both the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks (number 17) chart and the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart (number 15).

Ever since Common and Nas collaborated on "Ghetto Dreams" rumors have been floating around that the two would be joining forces for an album. In an interview with West Michigan's 1045 SNX's The Morning After Show, Common confirmed that he and Nasty Nas are indeed going to be recording an album together. "That's true... Nas and I will definitely be doing an album," Common said. "Along with my album coming out The Dreamer, The Believer in December, Nas is coming out with an album. And after that we plan on working on our project." Common also announced a December 20th release date for his album, The Dreamer, The Believer. "We just wanted to get all the singles out that we wanted to get out before the album comes and give it the right preparation time," said Common, explaining why the release date of his album changed. "But we're really charged about it. It's looking really good." Common recently left Kanye West's GOOD Music family, but says that it's still all love between them. "Really in all truth it's family. It just was a business thing where releasing this album wouldn't have been a beneficial to release it on the GOOD Music label, but I'm still GOOD Music family."
