with Nusrat Ali Fateh Khan from CD "The Prayer Cycle" 1999 of Jonathan Elias (Sony) Offically last recorded Ofra's song... Words from The Bible - Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." "Even when I walk in the valley of Darkness" "May only goodness and kindness pursue me all the days of my life"

I made an English translation for this amazing song that I think people should understand, her voice was like an angels one... let her rest in peace. picture, shot by me on the Tel-Aviv beach in Israel summer 2004. funny thing is that I remember thinking about this song when I saw the sunset, so I just had to use it for this video.

Of Yemenite Jewish ancestry, Haza was born the youngest of nine children in the poor Tel Aviv neighborhood of Hatikvah. She became an instant local and then national success story, the subject of great pride for many Israelis of Yemenite origin. Her voice has been described as mezzo-soprano, of near-flawless tonal quality, capable of lending itself to a variety of musical styles with apparent ease. It is thought likely that Haza's voice had the most upper harmonic overtones of any singer in history, reaching as many as 32 on some songs, such as "Love Song" from the album Shaday (1988) Inspired by a love of her Yemenite-Jewish culture, the appeal of her musical art quickly spread to a wider Middle Eastern audience, somehow bridging the divide between Israel and the Arab countries.

Awesome song sung live by Ofra Haza at Montreux Jazz Festival in 1990. Mayim rabim yo yuchlu l'chabot et ha'ahava, u'n'harot lo yish't'fuha, Im yiten ish et kawl hon beito b'ahava, boz yavuzu lo. (Shir HaShirim 8:6,7) Translation: --- Place me as a seal upon your heart, place me as a seal upon your arm, For love is strong as death, For love is strong as death, Jealousy is difficult as the grave, Its flames are flames of fire, fire of the flame of God. Many waters could not extinguish love, and rivers could not rinse it away. If a man were to give all the wealth of his house for love, He would surely be despised. ---
